Description of problem: In KDE Desktop Effects, the effect "Taskbar Thumbnails" does not work. Simply shows the ordinary thumbnail on the taskbar as though the effect were not on. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): OS: Linux 3.1.0-1.fc16.x86_64 x86_64 System: Fedora release 16 (Verne) KDE: 4.7.2 (4.7.2) How reproducible: In KDE, System Settings, Desktop Effects, All Effects tab, toggle and apply the "Taskbar Thumbnails" effect. Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual results: Whether on or off, you get the thumbnails as though the effect were not on - just a box containing icon and text. Expected results: If off, thumbnail should be icon and text box. If on, thumbnail should contain a live representation of the window, including rolling video, etc if relevant. Additional info:
Howdy, I had the similar issue although using a different Distro. I stumbled upon your post while trying to figure out the issue. I finally ended up finding the solution by way of bifurcation using a new login. What fixed it for me was checking `Task Manager Setting | Show tooltips' o Rt-click on the systray to bring up `Task Manager Settings' menu item - select it. o In the `Task Manager Settings' window, ensure `Show tooltips' is checked on.
