Description Horst H. von Brand 2011-10-26 20:02:10 UTC
Description of problem:
The machine hangs, just as it did earlier with DRM problems.
nVidia GT218 [GeForce 310M] (rev a2)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.40.6-0.fc15.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.10.4-1.fc15.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.16-24.20110324git8378443.fc15.x86_64

How reproducible:
Happened once.

I have been running vanilla kernels, compiled with essentially Fedora kernel configuration. Up to 3.1-rc8 similar hangs happened each two days or so, 3.1-rc{9,10} worked without hanging (not too long trying), but 3.1 did hang thrice in a morning today. So I tried the mentioned kernel, and it did hang very soon.

Has happened mostly when the machine is quiecent (i.e., I left for lunch and it did hang before the screensaver kicked in).

Steps to Reproduce:

2.
3.

Currently running 3.1.0-rc10 for some 5 hours, no problems.

Comment 2 Dave Jones 2011-10-27 18:43:47 UTC
if you're building upstream kernels, tell the upstream developers about the problems.
