Description eric 2011-10-31 02:15:27 UTC
Description of problem: GRUB has been replaced by GRUB2 in Fedora 16 which behaves differently and is configured differently.

Comment 1 Jack Reed 2011-10-31 02:25:53 UTC
This mostly just applies to instructions regarding the grub.conf file, which has been replaced by a new arrangement, which I've confirmed applies to F16.

Now, grub.cfg is updated by editing etc/default/grub and the scripts in etc/grub.d/

update-grub must then be run to incorporate the changes into grub.cfg

grub.conf is not part of F16.

See http://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/grub-2.html and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2 for more.

Removing myself for these bug components as I'm either no longer involved in that aspect of the project, or no longer care to watch this particular bug. Sorry if you are caught in a maelstrom of bug changes as a result!

The attachment is Wstation.xml which was the unique file i changed in content.

I have made changes in 2.1.2.2.1. Password Protecting GRUB because changes in grub2. The way of how password is generated has changed to grub2-mkpasswd-pbkdf2 and also it has to be made some configurations at grub2.cfg file.

I'm closing this bug as part of a Bugzilla cleanup effort. The most likely reason is that the bug has been opened either against a component we no longer publish, or against Release Notes for an EOL release.
