Description of problem: As an example - running rpmlint on itself says: rpmlint.noarch: W: manpage-not-compressed bz2 /usr/share/man/man1/rpmlint.1.gz Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): rpmlint-0.94-2.el5 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. rpmlint rpmlint Actual results: manpage-not-compressed bz2 Expected results: No warning - since the man page is gz compressed and this is the default compression type for manpages in EPEL5 Additional info: If I try to work around it by adding -o "CompressExtension 'gz'" to the rpmlint command this doesn't work. There seems to be something wrong with the command line parsing in EPEL5 rpmlint. This option works fine on Fedora. rpmlint -o "CompressExtension 'gz'" rpmlint (none): E: no installed packages by name 'gz'
Well, technically the message is correct. The manpages are compressed using gzip not bzip2. I'll look into it.
