Description Michael Fulbright 2002-10-04 15:57:22 UTC
This occurs because the kernel-smp package is installed on your system, and your
processor does not have a matching kernel-smp package in Red Hat Linux 8.0.

The workaround is to boot into your existing system, remove the kernel-smp
package, and attempt the upgrade again.

NOTE: You will not have support for SMP once you upgrade.

Is it possible to create an smp kernel using the 2.4.18-14 src.rpm? If so, how?

I'm going through Bugzilla closing some bugs that have been marked as Modified
for some period of time. I believe that most of these issues have been fixed,
so I'm resolving these bugs as Rawhide. If the bug you are seeing still exists,
please reopen this report and mark it as Reopened.
