Description Arthur Buliva 2011-11-04 06:02:56 UTC
Description of problem:

After installing xscreensaver screen lock from the menus no longer works as was the case when gnome-screensaver was the one in charge of the screensaver

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install xscreensaver
2. Enable it by clicking Activities and searching for screensaver
3. It will ask to disable gnome-screensaver. Accept and enable it
4. Reload gnome shell by rebooting of ALT+F2 r
5. On the right of the screen where you set your IM status, select "Lock Screen"

Actual results:

Nothing happens

Expected results:

Screensaver should activate and the screen locks

Additional info:

I chose XAnalogTv as the screensaver

I use GNOME 3 fallback mode so for now I just guess what is happening, however:

This "Lock Screen" is in my recognition for gnome-screensaver and xscreensaver is not related to this. And as far as I know currently there is no way to change the "default lock mechanism" on GNOME 3 from gnome-screensaver to xscreensaver.

The easiest way is to remove gnome-screensaver completely.

But I guess even after this selecting "Lock Screen" won't work on GNOME 3.
