Description of problem: I was bored waiting for an install in a virtual machine so I CTRL-ALT-F2 and started top. I noticed 100% of one CPU core was being used to run python. Why can't we find a way to use the entire system when doing an install? The virtual machine has 4 cores available.
I think the only computationally bound parts of anaconda are during dependency solving and so forth. Most of the rest of the time, we're either waiting on the user or laying down filesystems, which are IO bound. Thus, it makes sense to think about any potential parallelizations in yum and rpm since that's where we'd see the greatest benefit. Reassigning.
