Description of problem: When using xdotool on Fedora 16, using xdotool type is extremely slow, about 1 character per second, regardless of --delay setting. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.20101012.3049 How reproducible: Always, enter commands. Steps to Reproduce: 1. open gnome-terminal 2. xdotool type "this is really slow" 3. observe output Actual results: Really slowly comes on screen Expected results: Should honor default character delay of 12ms, speedier output. Additional info: Tested on a fresh default install Fedora 16 virtual machine on VMware Workstation 7. Upstream notes that in the latest version (2.20110530.1) a type slowness bug was fixed in relation to uneccessary keymap setting. Ubuntu 11.10 has this version and I have verified that type entry is quick there. Should this package not be upgraded anywways?
I cannot reproduce the issue - but then I'm using kde and the issue could well be gnome shell related. I'm building an updated rpm - please test it and give feedback. Thanks.
