Description Chris Lord 2011-11-23 09:45:30 UTC
When playing Minecraft, after a very short while (usually seconds), the window is filled with crawling pixels that show the colour of opaque background elements.

The same effect can be witnessed in other games, such as Super Tux Kart.

This affects all Sandybridge GPUs (Intel HD Graphics).

This is filed, detailed and fixed in fd.o Bugzilla: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39730

It would be good to get this fix into the F16 kernel.

The two patches pointed to in the fdo bug are:

http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1111.0/02876.html
http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/1111.0/02877.html

Neither one of them is in Linus' tree yet, and they don't appear to be in linux-next either.

I'll keep an eye on them. In the meantime, Adam, what do you think?

Comment 2 Josh Boyer 2011-11-23 13:27:14 UTC
OK. I see they are included in Dave's latest pull request for Linus now

Comment 3 Dave Jones 2012-01-30 18:45:15 UTC
These patches are in the 3.2 kernel, so this can probably be closed out ?
