Description of problem: Following a suggestion in bug 752407 comment 7, I tried to run 'yum distro-sync full', in the hope that it would offer to remove packages that have been retired but not obsoleted. However, it failed with a backtrace: # yum distro-sync full Loaded plugins: changelog, presto, refresh-packagekit, security Setting up Distribution Synchronisation Process Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/yum", line 29, in <module> yummain.user_main(sys.argv[1:], exit_code=True) File "/usr/share/yum-cli/yummain.py", line 309, in user_main errcode = main(args) File "/usr/share/yum-cli/yummain.py", line 140, in main result, resultmsgs = base.doCommands() File "/usr/share/yum-cli/cli.py", line 462, in doCommands return self.yum_cli_commands[self.basecmd].doCommand(self, self.basecmd, self.extcmds) File "/usr/share/yum-cli/yumcommands.py", line 462, in doCommand return base.distroSyncPkgs(extcmds) File "/usr/share/yum-cli/cli.py", line 914, in distroSyncPkgs if found: UnboundLocalError: local variable 'found' referenced before assignment Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): yum-3.4.3-5.fc16.noarch rpm-4.9.1.2-1.fc16.x86_64 Additional info: # yum distro-sync Loaded plugins: changelog, presto, refresh-packagekit, security Setting up Distribution Synchronisation Process Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check ---> Package lirc-libs.x86_64 0:0.9.0-3.fc16 will be a downgrade ---> Package lirc-libs.x86_64 0:0.9.0-7.fc15 will be erased ---> Package lohit-telugu-fonts.noarch 0:2.4.5-13.fc16 will be a downgrade ---> Package lohit-telugu-fonts.noarch 0:2.4.5-14.fc15 will be erased ---> Package preupgrade.noarch 0:1.1.9-1.fc16 will be a downgrade ---> Package preupgrade.noarch 0:1.1.10-1.fc15 will be erased --> Finished Dependency Resolution Dependencies Resolved ===================================================================================================================== Package Arch Version Repository Size ===================================================================================================================== Downgrading: lirc-libs x86_64 0.9.0-3.fc16 fedora 33 k lohit-telugu-fonts noarch 2.4.5-13.fc16 fedora 66 k preupgrade noarch 1.1.9-1.fc16 fedora 161 k Transaction Summary ===================================================================================================================== Downgrade 3 Packages Total download size: 259 k Is this ok [y/N]: n Exiting on user Command $ package-cleanup --orphans | grep -v debuginfo Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit hal-libs-0.5.14-6.fc15.x86_64 kernel-3.1.1-1.fc16.x86_64 kernel-devel-3.1.1-1.fc16.x86_64 kgraphviewer-2.1.1-2.1.fc13.x86_64 lirc-libs-0.9.0-7.fc15.x86_64 lohit-telugu-fonts-2.4.5-14.fc15.noarch massif-visualizer-0.2-6.4.fc13.x86_64 phonon-backend-xine-4.4.4-3.fc15.x86_64 preupgrade-1.1.10-1.fc15.noarch virt-mem-0.3.1-9.fc12.x86_64 kgraphviewer and massif-visualizer were installed from local packages, I believe everything else originally came from fedora repos.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '16'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
