Description of problem: Dnscap is woefully (almost 4 years) out of date. Most recent version is here: http://dnscap.dns-oarc.net/dnscap-134.tar.gz Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Version in Fedora 16 and earlier: 1.0-0.11.20070807cvs Upstream version: 1.0.134 ??? File says dnscap-134. Not sure if that means 1.0.134 or what. The binary reports this ( -? ): dnscap: version V1.0-OARC-r124 (2011-03-09) Additional info: Had to remove the three existing patches and add a patch for Makefile.in for the configure (attached - dnscap-1.0-makefile.patch) and slightly modify the spec file for the patch changes, removed the sed in prep and the the autoreconf in the setup as well as update the release.
Created attachment 536411 [details] Patch to add DESTDIR to Makefile.in and change bindir to sbindir This adds "${DESTDIR}" into Makefile.in, changes the installation target for for the binary from /usr/bin to /usr/sbin and fixes the installation of the man page.
Created attachment 536412 [details] Spec file for building 134. The spec file I used to build release 134. I did not update the comments, though.
Created attachment 536574 [details] Corrected patch file Corrected patch file (wrong file for man page, duh...).
I've just built dnscap-134-1.fc17. Since this update has some backward incompatibilities, I'm not going to update dnscap in Fedora 16.
