Unsupported videocard? Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): In this time I have xorg-x11-drv-ati x86_64 6.14.3-3.20111125git534fb6e41.fc16 from updates-testing repo.
you've turned off modesetting on the kernel command line, probably installing catalyst has screwed something up. It should work fine out of the box, without any kmod-catalyst.
