With the glusterfs I can't 'mv' won't except a directory as destination. It always expects the destination to be a file. This command succeeds in hadoop shell with HDFS.
fixed in my glusterfs github fork. git pull it to test
This is fixed now. Now I can mv the file/directory into another directory. root@ubuntu1:/home/hadoop/hadoop-0.20.2# ./bin/hadoop fs -lsr Initializing GlusterFS drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:59 /mnt/glusterfs/input -rwxrwxrwx 0 544778 2011-08-23 02:59 /mnt/glusterfs/input/mytextfile drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp/hadoop-root drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp/hadoop-root/mapred drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp/hadoop-root/mapred/system -rwxrwxrwx 0 4 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp/hadoop-root/mapred/system/jobtracker.info root@ubuntu1:/home/hadoop/hadoop-0.20.2# ./bin/hadoop fs -mkdir in Initializing GlusterFS root@ubuntu1:/home/hadoop/hadoop-0.20.2# ./bin/hadoop fs -mv input in Initializing GlusterFS root@ubuntu1:/home/hadoop/hadoop-0.20.2# ./bin/hadoop fs -lsr Initializing GlusterFS drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp/hadoop-root drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp/hadoop-root/mapred drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp/hadoop-root/mapred/system -rwxrwxrwx 0 4 2011-08-23 02:52 /mnt/glusterfs/tmp/hadoop-root/mapred/system/jobtracker.info drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 03:02 /mnt/glusterfs/in drwxrwxrwx - 0 2011-08-23 02:59 /mnt/glusterfs/in/input -rwxrwxrwx 0 544778 2011-08-23 02:59 /mnt/glusterfs/in/input/mytextfile
