I haven't delved into the details of what is going on yet but here is what I did: * install ipa-server with DNS * add an A and PTR record for a replica * ipa-replica-prepare replica * on replica install * on master: ipa-replica-manage del replica * on replica try to re-install The reinstall will fail from the remote side with all services failing. The reason is because removing the replication agreement removes the host from DNS so the conncheck fails. We should resolve the hostname before doing the conncheck. Upstream ticket: https://fedorahosted.org/freeipa/ticket/1984
Fixed upstream. master: d0648f1fd4ee708cfa4ea6fdc29dc99ae44521e2
Ports are not checked when the target hostname is not resolvable. [root@goldbug ~]# ipa-replica-install /var/lib/ipa/replica-info-goldbug.lab.eng.pnq.redhat.com.gpg Directory Manager (existing master) password: ipa : ERROR Unable to resolve host name, check /etc/hosts or DNS name resolution [root@goldbug ~]# Verfied: ipa-server-2.2.0-8.el6.x86_64
