Description of problem: EPEL yum update indicates there is a new xerces-c library, but won't update to it because gdal only works with the previous version of the xerces-library. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gdal-1.4.2-4.el5 gdal-devel-1.4.2-4.el5 xerces-c-2.7.0-8.el5 How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. yum update Actual results: [root@asumn ~]# yum update Loaded plugins: fastestmirror Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile * base: mirror.fdcservers.net * epel: kdeforge.unl.edu * extras: mirrors.cmich.edu * updates: mirror.fdcservers.net Setting up Update Process Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check --> Processing Dependency: libxerces-c.so.27 for package: gdal ---> Package xerces-c.i386 0:2.8.0-1.el5.centos set to be updated --> Finished Dependency Resolution gdal-1.4.2-4.el5.i386 from installed has depsolving problems --> Missing Dependency: libxerces-c.so.27 is needed by package gdal-1.4.2-4.el5.i386 (installed) Error: Missing Dependency: libxerces-c.so.27 is needed by package gdal-1.4.2-4.el5.i386 (installed) You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: package-cleanup --problems package-cleanup --dupes rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest Expected results: It should update gdal and xerces together to be in step with each other.
