Built-in microphone in Lenovo g570 laptop doesn't work by default.
Adding: 

options snd-hda-intel model=asus

to some file in /etc/modprobe.d/ and rebooting fixes it.

Can it work out-of-the-box, without manually fixing it?

No change. Still doesn't work out of the box.

Just checked on Fedora 17 with kernel 3.4.0-1.fc17.x86_64 and it just works.
