Created attachment 548231 [details] Menubar will even place itself toward the middle of the screen. There's no way to set the bar manually in this position, that I can see. Description of problem: With the kde taskbar set to auto hide, some times it 'opens up' in the wrong place.(see screenshots) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): KDE 4.6.5 How reproducible: Every time Steps to Reproduce: Have autohide set with kde taskbar (I always have my taskbar set to the top of the screen) 1. Boot or reboot computer 2. Open kaffeine, then open up dolphin 3. Move mouse to the taskbar Actual results: See screenshots Expected results: taskbar opens where it's expected to open Additional info: Will randomly do this throughout computer usage, not just right after booting. It doesn't cause the computer to crash or anything, it's just highly annoying, the bar should stay where I put it at. It just recently started doing this, I upgraded packages not too long ago. I haven't made changes in the system control panels for quite some time.
Created attachment 548232 [details] Blue line The blue line through the screen is not a graphical defect, that's where the menu decided to deposit itself. I move the mouse to that position, and then the taskbar opens up in the middle of the screen.(see other screenshot)
may be worth trying a couple of things to workaroud it. First, move it to where you really want it. click the cashew on the right edge of the panel, then drag "Screen Edge" to where you want it. If that doesn't work, perhaps removing the problematic panel, and re-adding one may do the trick as well: click cashew on right of panel -> more settings -> remove this panel then, on desktop, right click -> add panel -> default panel and configure it to your liking (like moving it back to the top of the screen). Neither of these will help explain how it got in this confused state however, but may help get you back on track.
I completely removed the whole bar as you said I should, and rebuilt it. That really helped a lot. It still has a mind of it's own, though it's much less frequent. The only times I seem to notice the task bar moving away from where I want it and to somewhere in the middle of my screen is when I'm browsing the internet, and I download a PDF and view it with Okular. It never fails.
Hello, is this bug still present? I found a report with very similar symptoms upstream, it's not closed yet so I suppose it still happens...
Yeah, it still happens. There's been improvement though, it doesn't happen as often. KDE 4.8.3 / F17
This message is a notice that Fedora 15 is now at end of life. Fedora has stopped maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 15. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At this time, all open bugs with a Fedora 'version' of '15' have been closed as WONTFIX. (Please note: Our normal process is to give advanced warning of this occurring, but we forgot to do that. A thousand apologies.) Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, feel free to reopen this bug and simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were unable to fix it before Fedora 15 reached end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on "Clone This Bug" (top right of this page) and open it against that version of Fedora. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
