Description Enrico Morelli 2011-12-21 13:41:04 UTC
Description of problem:

After the upgrade to RHEL 6.2, the flash-player inside firefox crash with segmentation fault (the same thing occurs using Opera and Chrome browsers).
Also VirtualBox crash with segmentation fault.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. start firefox or opera or chrome browser
2. play a flash

dmesg shows:

chrome[4425]: segfault at 28e4b315 ip 003750bc sp bfb00b44 error 6 in ld-2.12.so[369000+1e000]
chrome[4437]: segfault at 616a315 ip 00a880bc sp bff92e24 error 6 in ld-2.12.so[a7c000+1e000]
operapluginwrap[4677]: segfault at 2338315 ip 002bb0bc sp bf9789a4 error 6 in ld-2.12.so[2af000+1e000]
operapluginwrap[4707]: segfault at 1862315 ip 002bb0bc sp bffa1434 error 6 in ld-2.12.so[2af000+1e000]
firefox[4811]: segfault at 21c3315 ip 002bb0bc sp bf8a9634 error 6 in ld-2.12.so[2af000+1e000]
firefox[4818]: segfault at 9ac315 ip 002bb0bc sp bfc88354 error 6 in ld-2.12.so[2af000+1e000]

The same thing occurs if I try to execute VirtualBox:
VirtualBox[15586]: segfault at b288e315 ip 002bb0bc sp bf912114 error 6 in ld-2.12.so[2af000+1e000]
VirtualBox[15604]: segfault at b298e315 ip 002bb0bc sp bf849a44 error 6 in ld-2.12.so[2af000+1e000]

It's true that aren't programs released by RedHat but it's strange that after the upgrade these programs doesn't works at all.

Comment 3 RHEL Program Management 2012-05-03 05:34:42 UTC
Since RHEL 6.3 External Beta has begun, and this bug remains
unresolved, it has been rejected as it is not proposed as
exception or blocker.

Red Hat invites you to ask your support representative to
propose this request, if appropriate and relevant, in the
next release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Comment 4 Martin Stransky 2012-07-26 15:12:30 UTC
We can't fix the flash crashes.
