With the recent update of dracut in rawhide to 014-9.git20111215.fc17, the initramfs it builds does not allow the machine to boot. It seems to be transposing the name of the root LV for the name of the VG: [ 3.072689] modprobe used greatest stack depth: 3648 bytes left [ 3.547570] dracut: Scanning devices vda2 for LVM logical volumes lv_root [ 3.582454] dracut: inactive '/dev/vg_rawhide/lv_root' [35.62 GiB] inherit [ 3.586701] dracut: inactive '/dev/vg_rawhide/lv_swap' [1.94 GiB] inherit [ 3.643961] dracut: Volume group "lv_root" not found [ 3.647001] dracut: Skipping volume group lv_root [ 16.986821] dracut: Scanning devices vda2 for LVM logical volumes lv_root [ 17.025835] dracut: inactive '/dev/vg_rawhide/lv_root' [35.62 GiB] inherit [ 17.027535] dracut: inactive '/dev/vg_rawhide/lv_swap' [1.94 GiB] inherit [ 17.053412] dracut: Partial mode. Downgrading to the older dracut and rebuilding the initramfs seems to resolve the problem for me for now.
can you please show me your kernel command line?
# cat /proc/cmdline BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.2.0-0.rc7.git4.1.fc17.x86_64 root=/dev/mapper/vg_rawhide-lv_root ro console=ttyS0,115200 SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 LANG=en_US.UTF-8 KEYTABLE=us
can you show me your grub.conf?
Created attachment 550902 [details] /boot/grub2/grub.cfg I presume this is what you want (and not the grub1 grub.conf)
Should be fixed now. If not, please reopen.
Confirmed -- seems to be fixed in dracut-014-38.git20120117.fc17.noarch.
