Description of problem: The "last" command is historically limited to showing a truncated hostname by default, but this can be changed on a per-program basis to show a full ip address. The purpose of the command is to show who logged into a system at a given point in time. The hostname shows the reverse lookup of the ip at that point in time and is therefore extremely useful. Presumably backwards compatibility will not be an issue since an ipv6 address will also not fit in this field. The -w option is definitely useful to know, but what I'm looking for is seeing information about what hostname belonged to the ip address (and vice versa) at the time of the login. i.e. both ip and hostname at time of login
