Description Fujisan 2012-01-06 10:08:28 UTC
Created attachment 551119 [details]
xorg.conf file used with nvidia driver.

Description of problem:
I installed the nvidia driver.

Then I want to login using kde plasma workspace, but it gets stuck at step 2 of the splash screen (the setting tools) and i never get logged in.
I have to ctrl-alt-backspace to come to the login screen.

If I uninstall the nvidia driver, everything comes back to normal and i can use the kde desktop again.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.7.4

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install the nvidia driver:
kmod-nvidia-290.10-1.fc16.6.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-290.10-1.fc16.x86_64
nvidia-xconfig-1.0-11.fc16.x86_64
nvidia-settings-1.0-13.fc16.x86_64
kmod-nvidia-3.1.6-1.fc16.x86_64-290.10-1.fc16.6.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs-290.10-1.fc16.x86_64

2.Run:
dracut initramfs-3.1.6-1.fc16.x86_64.img 3.1.6-1.fc16.x86_64

3.Use the xorg.conf attached here.
4.Reboot
5.Try to login using the kde plasma workspace

Actual results:
KDE starts but does not finish the login process. Is stuck at step 2 of the splash screen (the setting tools). I never get logged in.

Expected results:
I expect to login and start using kde.

Additional info:
If I uninstall the nvidia driver, everything comes back to normal and i can use the kde desktop again.
