Description of problem: Have xfce desktop running - and plug in a usb drive. Drive icon appears on desktop but more often than not does not mount automatically despite setting the system to do so. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xfce4-mount-plugin-0.5.5-6.fc15.x86_64 (despite being an f16 system) How reproducible: Most of the time the disc remains unmounted - but occasionally automounts and shows the file browser on the deskop. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Plug in usb drive 2. Wait for drive icon to appear on desktop 3. Wait for file browser to open - hovering mouse over drive icon shows mounted when this happens but usually remains unmounted and the file browser does not open automatically. Actual results: USB drive usually remains unmounted but occasionally mounts as expected. Expected results: Drive should automount every time Additional info: The same behaviour occurs on several machines running f16 with the xfce desktop all are fully yum updated. This has been occurring the same way since clean install of the f16 system in all machines.
Mounding is handled through thunar-volman, not xfce4-mount-plugin. Please - tell me the version of thunar-volman - give me it's configuration file ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/thunar-volman.xml - make sure you are not running the mount plugin or anything else that may interfere with thunar-volman.
thunar-volman-0.6.0-2.fc15.x86_64 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <channel name="thunar-volman" version="1.0"> <property name="automount-drives" type="empty"> <property name="enabled" type="bool" value="true"/> </property> <property name="automount-media" type="empty"> <property name="enabled" type="bool" value="true"/> </property> <property name="autobrowse" type="empty"> <property name="enabled" type="bool" value="true"/> </property> </channel> I do have xfce4-mount-plugin as a panel item - is that not advisable?
OK I removed the mount-plugin from the panel and it seems to be behaving properly now! It might be an idea to have a note somewhere warning users that putting the mount-plugin icon on the panel will interfere with the thunar-volman behaviour - I didn't see anything like that unless I missed something obvious?
Since the incorrect behaviour was due to a conflict between mount-plugin and thunar-volman I am going to close this bug. If this needs to be re-opened for further reporting or action please go ahead. I am making it "notabug" since I can't see a way forward with this apart from ensuring that users are aware of the conflict that causes the problem.
