Affects: Documentation (Ref Guide, User Guide, etc.), Release Notes Date of First Response: 2008-09-17 20:08:51 project_key: SOA https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/SOA-533 indicates that Postgresql is now supported by the database configuration scripts. The Getting Started Guide should be modified to reflect this. Link to relevant section of the 4.2 guide: http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/JBoss_SOA_Platform/4.2.2/html/SOA_Getting_Started_Guide/SOA_Getting_Started_Guide-Post_Installation_Testing_and_Starting.html#id2832077 Question: should a change like this be noted in the release notes?
The GSG specified that PostgreSQL was not supported. This is not true, it has tier1 support. Probably what it should say is that "a re-configure script for PostgreSQL is not included at this time", rather than "PostgreSQL is not supported". Also add to 4.2.CP02 Release Notes as a known issue.
That's a good rewording for the 4.2 docs to avoid this misunderstanding. This statement by Taro Yasuma in jboss-pm-list suggests that it is applicable for 4.2 GA through CP02 only: "I think we should add better statement that we support it on 4.2CP03 and later in [2] after CP03 is released." My reading of SOA-533 is that the reconfiguration scripts in 4.3 now support Postgresql, so for the 4.3 docs this caveat should be removed entirely. This is presumably the same reconfiguration script that will be included in 4.2 CP03, making the warning redundant. You probably want to check on that.
