project_key: SOA

In the "metrics data" display of the enterprise console, the "get current values" button does collect the current statistics on the config elements being queried. The button only performs a screen refresh.

This is a known issue: http://jira.rhq-project.org/browse/RHQ-754

But it may cause confusion for SOA-P users as:

* It's in contrast to the legacy ESB management console's "Press the button to manually Collect Statistics" feature.

* And - the only way for a user to force a collection of statistics in the enterprise console is to set the collection interval to a very low value (e.g., 30 seconds) and then wait for the interval to expire. After the user views these statistics, he should reset the collection interval to not affect system/agent performance.

We'll need to document this for SOA 4.3 - and press to have the underlying issue resolved.

Comment 1 Len DiMaggio 2008-10-09 18:07:23 UTC
This means that a user comparing stats between the legacy ESB mgmt console and the enterprise console will see different numbers - unless they run a time-bounded test and wait for the collection interval in the enterprise console to expire.
