We have a requirement in PRD that groovy should be backwards compatible in soa-P 5. However that's not completely possible because it was updated from 1.0 in 4.x series to 1.5.4

Here's what I got from the groovy list about compatibility:
-----
That isn't an easy question to answer. I imagine that the
bulk of programs written for 1.0 will run in 1.5.4 but there
were many changes to the language including a small number of
breaking changes - often in corner cases.

If you have some more specific questions about areas where
you are concerned, then we might be able to give you further
details.

Cheers, Paul King

I guess what we can do is document that some scripts may need minor changes to run.

I have written a first draft comment, documenting this issue for the Release Notes. Please review what I have written:

Groovy has undergone a major update from version 1.0 to 1.5.4. Be aware that mMany changes were made to the language and, whilst most scripts will still work, you may find that some will need minor changes. Ensure that you test them as part of your migration process.

Comment 2 Aleksandar Kostadinov 2010-01-27 05:03:23 UTC
Except for the typo "mMany", that looks very nice to me.

Comment 3 David Le Sage 2010-01-27 05:07:35 UTC
Okay.

Thanks for spotting the typo. :-)
