I edited a number of lines in the example's README and will attach it to this Jira. A note at the top is a reminder that the username/password deal is still an issue as written.

I found that the marketdata-file-ds.xml file's path definition, using ${jboss.server.home.dir}/../eds/teiid/examples/dynamicvdb-portfolio/data did not return data. If I replace it with an absolute path, it works perfectly. No errors were found, just no results.
