Gone as far with the review as I can - I think that what we need to do is to (someday) add a new "Smooks Getting Started Guide (GSG)" to provide documentation for new users. This new GSG would be a good place to include at least a summary of each Smooks example program.

One change was missed:

2.1. Basic Processing Model
To reiterate, the basic purpose of Smooks is to take a data source and, from it, generate an event stream, to which visitor logic can be applied. This is undertaken in order to produce a "result" in a format such as Electronic Data Exchange (EDI.)
