Description of problem: The last used option between WLAN or Bluetooth controls the hardware switch. While it used to be independent of the software earlier, uptill F14 as it was installed 2 days back. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 16 NetworkManager-gnome.x86_64 -- 1:0.9.2-1.fc16 gnome-bluetooth.x86_64 --- 1:3.2.1-2.fc16 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Switch on the Hardware switch for WLAN, switch shows a WHITE LED lit. The Network Manager starts searching for WLAN's. If a WLAN is pre configured, NM connects to it. 2. Disable WLAN from Network Manager. The WLAN switches OFF and also the hardware switch turns OFF [Amber Light]. Turn ON the WLAN from Network Manager, the hardware switch also turn on [WHITE LIGHT]. Turn it off back from Network manager UI[Amber Light]. 3. Try switching the WLAN ON from the hardware switch. No Action is seen under Network Manager. 4. Ty switching the Bluetooth ON from UI, the bluetooth window says 'Hardware Disabled'. 5. Try pressing the hardware switch ON, keeping the Bluetooth window open. The press events of the hardware switch is recorded there, and it changes to ON/OFF button, with OFF highlighted. The hardware light is still OFF[Amber Light]. 6. Press the hardware switch to ON [seen on the Bluetooth window, no change in the LED] Switch ON the Bluetooth from the top panel, the hardware switch and the Bluetooth turns ON. 7. Try switching the WLAN ON from the Network manager. The hardware light stays ON. 8. Switch OFF the bluetooth from panel. The hardware light stays ON. 9. Switch OFF the WLAN from network manager, the WLAM turns off and so is the hardware light. 10. Click ON the bluetooth from the panel, the hardware switch turns ON. 11. Press the hardware switch so that it turns OFF, keeping the bluetooth window open. It shows 'hardware disabled' and the hardware switch is OFF. 12. Click on the Network Manager and the ON/OFF Button for WLAN is there. Actual results: Hardware switch state is not reflected under Network Manager. Expected results: Pressing the hardware switch should show 'hardware disabled' in both Network Manager and the Bluetooth UI. Once the hardware switch is ON, the option to switch ON/OFF the WLAN/Bluetooth should be shown. Additional info: Will provide as and when required.
Install the rfkill package. Show the output from "rfkill list" after each change.

Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.
