Changes to the .spec

The Kicad developers released the new stable version 2012-01-19.
It would be nice to make this version available to Fedora users too.

I have done the neccessary changes to the .spec and will add them to this bug. I have tested this version for some hours and haven't found any problems.

Alain, would you mind update kicad please ?

Comment 6 Alain Portal 2012-01-23 22:36:53 UTC
This bug report is indecent !
A request to update a package 48h after a new upstream stable release...

You should at least let me time to work on the package. I'm not a Fedora employee. If you think you'll be a better and quicker packager for kicad, tell me and I'll release the ownership.

You should at least check if your package build in rawhide...

Chitlesh, how can you acquiesce ?

Comment 7 Gerd v. Egidy 2012-01-23 23:03:42 UTC
Hi Alain,

sorry, no offense or criticism on your maintainership meant. Actually there was a release in december and I meant to package that one. But when I came to it last weekend, the new release was already out so I took that one.

Kind regards,

Gerd

Hello Alain,

I'm shocked by your chosen words.

At last, there is someone like Gerd who contributed something to this fedora kicad package. We (Fedora as a whole) is known to encourage a community supported development. We have updates-testing (and rawhide) where we can drop kicad for one week(at least) and can release the package whenever we want.

Likewise, I'm not a Fedora employee and I know how hard it is to find time for contributing to Fedora. I would consider Gerd as an opportunity for additional testing. You can mentor him to close some of your pending action items with respect to kicad, thereby we can stand strong for F-17 release.

Thanks for releasing the update, will test your rpms soon.
