I have an Acer Travelmate 8200 which has been working well with Fedora 15. However the kernel updates to 2.6.41.x do not boot any longer. I blacklisted module firewire_ohci and created an initrd without firewire_ohci and the kernel boots and the machine is fine. Attempting to load firewire_ohci results in a hard kernel lock. No keyboard, etc. Need to powercycle how to reproduce: # uname -a Linux laptopp.localdomain 2.6.41.9-1.fc15.i686 #1 SMP Fri Jan 13 16:43:37 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux > modprobe firewire_ohci hardware info: # lspci -v -v -s 0a:09.4 0a:09.4 FireWire (IEEE 1394): O2 Micro, Inc. the message just before hang is firewire_ohci: Failed to set Link Power status. Cheers T.
Is this still happening with the 2.6.43/3.3 kernel?
I won't be able to test this until the end of July. Since F17 is out, I probably report on that, though. tks T.
Fedora 15 has reached it's end of life as of June 26, 2012. As a result, we will not be fixing any remaining bugs found in Fedora 15. In the event that you have upgraded to a newer release and the bug you reported is still present, please reopen the bug and set the version field to the newest release you have encountered the issue with. Before doing so, please ensure you are testing the latest kernel update in that release and attach any new and relevant information you may have gathered. Thank you for taking the time to file a report. We hope newer versions of Fedora suit your needs.
