Description Andrew Case 2012-01-25 22:29:14 UTC
Description of problem:
If you do a gnome-session-save after opening a terminal from the nautilus open terminal option, the current working directory information isn't maintained on next login.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
  nautilus-open-terminal-0.17-4.el6.x86_64
  gnome-terminal-2.31.3-7.el6.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
 right click desktop
 open terminal
 cd /tmp
 gnome-session-save/logout
 login

Actual results:
 current working directory is now ~/Desktop

Expected results:
 current working directory in terminal should be /tmp

Additional info:
In the ~/.config/session-state/gnome-terminal-######.desktop file you'll see that terminal's opened with "nautilus-open-terminal" have a "Command" option that supercedes the WorkingDirectory. As such, the '/tmp' is irrelevant since it will cd to the ~/Desktop directory on creation:

[Terminal0x2caa560]
ProfileID=Default
Command='/bin/sh' '-c' 'cd '\\\\''/home/USER/Desktop'\\\\'' && exec $SHELL -l'
WorkingDirectory=/tmp
Zoom=1
Width=80
Height=24

Instead I would expect:

[Terminal0x2caa560]
ProfileID=Default
WorkingDirectory=/tmp
Zoom=1
Width=80
Height=24

Andrew, I believe things would go even more bad when you try to restore multiple tabs, right?

Comment 4 Andrew Case 2012-01-31 21:32:49 UTC
Actually the new tabs created aren't a problem since they aren't opened with the 'nautilus-open-terminal' package. When the new tabs are opened from the terminal they don't pass along the 'Command' parameter to new terminals. See configuration below which is maintained between sessions:

[GNOME Terminal Configuration]

CompatVersion=1
FactoryEnabled=true
Windows=Window0;

[Window0]
MenubarVisible=true

[Terminal0x136c0b0]
ProfileID=Default
Command='/bin/sh' '-c' 'cd '\\\\''/home/USER/Desktop'\\\\'' && exec $SHELL'
WorkingDirectory=/usr
Zoom=1
Width=80
Height=24

[Terminal0x1519e90]
ProfileID=Default
WorkingDirectory=/bin
Zoom=1
Width=80
Height=24

[Terminal0x151dd20]
ProfileID=Default
WorkingDirectory=/tmp
