While creating a new Portal, users are running into this restriction on the portal name:
"Enter a string for the Portal Name field. This field is required and must be unique. Only alphabetical, numerical and underscore characters are allowed for this field and the name must have at least 3 characters."

In addition, the name cannot start with a number, but some customers want to create EPP sites that have names with two characters starting with a number, like "3M". 

A similar restriction is imposed on the Node Name and Display Name fields during page creation:
"The node name of the added page. It is required field. This field must start with a character and must have a length between 3 and 30 characters."

Could we please verify if these restrictions are technically enforced, or if they can be loosened, allowing shorter names or such which start with a number?
