++ This bug is a clone of bug 794244 ++

see the attached screenshot. after selecting something from a menu, when the column specified for currency converter gadget is too narrow, a "ghost" rectangle will appear on the screen. btw. for some currencies the gadget will get the error message (NaN) instead of the result.
