Description of problem: Fedora 16 won't unsuspend on a Macbook Pro (Apple product 5,1) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Fedora 16 kernel How reproducible: Every time! Steps to Reproduce: 1. Obtain a macbook (apple product 5,1) 2. Install Fedora 3. Log in 4. Close lid. Macbook suspends. 5. Count to 10. 6. Open lid. 7. Macbook is now hung! Only recovery is power-cycle. Actual results: Macbook hung! ONLY RECOVERY METHOD IS A HARD POWER OFF! THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING. Expected results: Macbook unsuspends. (as it did on Fedora 14) Additional info: 1) Appears to be a problem in kernel interface to video driver. 2) Bug appears irrespective of new Gnome interface is enabled. 3) Bug appears irrespective of 32-bit or 64-bit installation. 4) Bug appears irrespective of user (i.e. LinuxDaily also experienced the bug)
[mass update] kernel-3.3.0-4.fc16 has been pushed to the Fedora 16 stable repository. Please retest with this update.
Tested against Fedora 17 (which uses the 3.5.xx kernel) and specifically against both the standard and the Xfce liveCDs. Bug remains - still no suspend/resume with either Gnome or Xfce liveCDs.
I'm going to guess this is related to nouveau. Out of curiosity, were you booting from an actual CD or from a USB key? Resume from a USB device is somewhat dicey since it kind of depends on USB enumeration.
Booting from the genuine CD. The Nouveau people had looked at it and decided to bounce it to Kernel; there's considerable prior history on this badness. This bug should probably be merged with the F17 bug: See bugzilla bug 827432

We'll just dup this one since the F17 bug is at least more current. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 827432 ***
