Description Wendell Baker 2012-02-26 07:00:50 UTC
Description of problem:

anaconda dies with
BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 00000014

A reboot must occur. The machine does not progress. This is sporadic. It occurred 2/5 times. Which is to say three of the times it didn't happen. I was able to install Fedora 16 on the equipment.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

this is anaconda off of the repository, so it's
anaconda-16.25-1.fc16.i686

How reproducible:

2/5 times. It's got to be a timing thing.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install F16
2.
3.

Actual results:

as shown in the picture nearby

Expected results:

F16 installs normally

Additional info:

Fedora 16 was installed on this machine successfully.

anaconda crash exhibit #1

I'm submitting a picture because there's no text access to the box at this early stage in the boot process.

Do you see this with an updated F16 kernel? We're on 3.2.7 now.

Indeed, I see 3.2 in updates

I wasn't working off of updates for the initial installs. I can.
