:Plugging in a logitech laptop stand/keyboard/USB hub has the mouse plugged into it be jumpy or sluggish.  Unplugging the mouse from the keboard/hub and plugging it into a USB port on the laptop has it (the mouse) work correctly.

I just checked with kernel 3.2.10 installed and didn't see the problem.  After upgrading to the latest 3.3.0-4 kernel I don't see the problem.
