Comment 1 Vania Joloboff 2012-03-12 06:55:39 UTC
I forgot to mention the linux boot error message is the following

pnp 00:0b can't evaluate _CRS 12311

Comment 2 Justin M. Forbes 2012-03-12 21:16:34 UTC
Can you attach full dmesg output please?

Comment 3 Vania Joloboff 2012-03-13 15:44:49 UTC
There are only 3 lines
First I get
Loading Fedora 3.2.9-2_fc16.x86_64
Second line is
Loading initial ramdisk...
and then the third line
[0.484696] pnp 00:0b: can't evaluate _CRS: 12311

The time at the beginning changes each time I boot...

After that the kernel boots however normally, I can login but I have
bad touchpad (press and drag to move windows does not work)
and as soon as I go in system settings to change anything in
the touchpad, then it freezes and I cannot move the cursor anymore,
no click either, it is completely frozen...
I can only logout using the keyboard

When I use an external USB mouse, apparently no problem.
The battery goes out quickly however.
I can work 6 hours with Windows 7 but only 2 hours with Fedora

If you send me a debug kernel I can send more info...

Comment 4 Justin M. Forbes 2012-03-14 20:25:37 UTC
can you please attach the output of the dmesg command once logged in?

I have the same problem. My notebook is a Samsung RC420 and when my fedora starts this error 'can't evaluate _CRS' appears. Everything work fine except the touchpad.

Linux localhost.localdomain 3.2.10-3.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Mar 15 19:39:46 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I will upgrade my kernel and see what will be happen.

Comment 10 brunoric 2012-03-26 19:12:02 UTC
new kernel version and same error...

Linux localhost.localdomain 3.3.0-4.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Mar 20 18:05:40 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Comment 11 Vania Joloboff 2012-03-29 07:28:57 UTC
I upgraded like bruno and same result

Linux qingwei 3.3.0-4.fc16.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Mar 20 18:05:40 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

and same problem with _CRS and touchpad does not work.

To be more precise, I can move the mouse cursor with the touchpad,
I can have a menu with <left button click>
but cannot drag. When I press left button the mouse cursor freezes

I have attached the new result of command 'dmesg' with kernel 3.3.0

Same problem

Comment 14 Vania Joloboff 2012-08-08 09:31:45 UTC
I have upgraded to 3.4.7-1.fc16.x86_64

Same problem, same symptoms

error message at boot time: can't evaluate _CRS: 12311

and touchpad does not work

Comment 15 Josh Boyer 2012-09-05 16:54:16 UTC
There are a few changes to the elantech driver in the 3.5 kernel that might help the issue. Have you tried Fedora 17 on this machine at all?
