Description Nam Duong 2012-03-13 19:50:29 UTC
Description of problem:
This was reported by one of our users from Accenture (heavy windows users).

I get this (I'm assuming it's asking for my passpharase 4 times because it's checking my 4 apps that I have deployed in my account?):
$ rhc-chk
Password:
Analyzing system
..Enter passphrase:
...Could not open a connection to your authentication agent.
FEnter passphrase for key '/home/kevin.j.hooke/.ssh/libra_id_rsa':
Enter passphrase for key '/home/kevin.j.hooke/.ssh/libra_id_rsa':
Enter passphrase for key '/home/kevin.j.hooke/.ssh/libra_id_rsa':
Enter passphrase for key '/home/kevin.j.hooke/.ssh/libra_id_rsa':
.
=================================================
|| Your system did not pass all of the tests ||
=================================================
1) Either ssh-agent is not running or you do not have any keys loaded.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I change it to use an alternate key file, that I also have the pub file added to my account, I get this:
$ rhc-chk
Password:
Analyzing system
..Enter passphrase:
...Could not open a connection to your authentication agent.
FEnter passphrase for key '/home/kevin.j.hooke/.ssh/id_rsa':
Enter passphrase for key '/home/kevin.j.hooke/.ssh/id_rsa':
Enter passphrase for key '/home/kevin.j.hooke/.ssh/id_rsa':
Enter passphrase for key '/home/kevin.j.hooke/.ssh/id_rsa':
.
=================================================
|| Your system did not pass all of the tests ||
=================================================
1) Either ssh-agent is not running or you do not have any keys loaded.

Not sure what the ssh-agent message is about, but I can use git to push changes to my git repo with either key, so looks like either work ok.

Nam, not much information to go on here...I'm fairly sure this is not a bug, but rather the tests finding something wrong with the system as intended. His being prompted for his password is, as you assumed, because ssh is trying to connect to his apps.

Is his ssh-agent running (that's what the error told him)? He can try running "ssh-add -L". I'm assuming if he's on Windows, he's running cygwin. He might want to try these directions: http://blog.killtheradio.net/how-tos/ssh-agent-on-cygwin/ to ensure the agent gets started automatically. This seems to be the number 1 problem with folks having issues, is they don't have their agent starting properly, and thus not caching their keys.

Created a KB article for this. Thanks Fotios!
