The UI is totally busted in IE8

1) No branding for CFSE
2) menu not rendered correctly
3) Org switcher not rendered correctly
4) Env switcher not rendered correctly

Comment 2 Jason E. Rist 2012-03-28 22:03:52 UTC
Release Note for IE8 - Package Filter is poorly visible. Editable fields may not update after saving, despite actually saving to server.

Comment 5 Sachin Ghai 2012-04-05 11:07:17 UTC
I tried to verify this with katello-0.1.307-1.el6.noarch and katello-0.1.309-1.el6.noarch. Still UI is busted.

Comment 6 Sachin Ghai 2012-04-05 11:08:53 UTC
I verified with IE 8.0.7600.16385

Comment 8 Sachin Ghai 2012-04-11 09:26:22 UTC
This issue is still reproducible with latest CFSE build ( katello-0.1.309-1.el6.noarch)

Comment 9 Mike McCune 2012-04-11 20:12:03 UTC
I don't know how you are seeing this error, I tried with IE8:

http://mmccune.fedorapeople.org/scratch/ie8-beta6.png

and IE9:

http://mmccune.fedorapeople.org/scratch/ie9-beta6.png

We are going to need more access and information to see if this is really occurring:

1) can we get access to the windows machine where this is happening?

2) Can you get me a screenshot of your About -> Internet Explorer page?

3) Can I get a full screenshot of the entire page including the version string at the bottom vs just the squished up menu?

moving back to ON_QA since none of us can reproduce this issue

Few more things tried:

- Deleted browser cookies and tried again and still found the same UI as in comment 11's attachment.

- The windows machine is a VM and I'm trying to access it via rdesktop. So I changed the screen resolution to see any change but no luck.

Comment 13 Chandrasekar Kannan 2012-04-12 12:47:04 UTC
sachin, can you point your IE 8/9 browser at a beta6 server and see if you run into the same issue?.

I have one at https://tigger.idm.lab.bos.redhat.com/katello

Comment 14 Jeff Weiss 2012-04-12 14:36:29 UTC
We tested against sachin's server using win2k/ie8, win7/ie8, win7/ie9 all passed. So it would appear that something is different about sachin's browser, either configuration or something remaining in the cache or temp files.

Comment 15 Corey Welton 2012-04-12 14:38:20 UTC
I have tested latest brew in w/ ie8 and see no issues.

Comment 16 Sachin Ghai 2012-04-13 07:55:17 UTC
I think I was facing this issue because of IE browser settings. When I changed the browser settings to 'default', everything looks fine. Earlier I tried all ways by removing the cache/cookies and temp files but couldn't succeed then I realized one more option is there to restore the browser to its defaults settings and this resolves the issue.
