Description of problem: During the installation, I've chosen the "Slovak (qwerty)" keyboard layout. However, I got QWERTZ ... and it even doesn't work at console at all. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): system-config-keyboard-1.3.1-8.fc17 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 0. use some standard PC 105 or so keyboard 1. system-config-keyboard 2. examine the list of keyboards - look for Slovak keyboard variants 3. choose "Slovak (qwerty)" 4. reboot to be 100% sure changes applied 5. in X, type six keys in a row next to the Tab key, starting at Q ... 6. in text mode, type all the keys in the digits row 7. rpm -qf /etc/sysconfig/keyboard Actual results: 3. only "Slovak (qwerty)" is offered (or "Slovenská (qwerty)") 5. qwertz 6. `1234567890-= 7. file /etc/sysconfig/keyboard is not owned by any package Expected results: 3. there is both "Slovak (qwerty)" and "Slovak (qwertz)" 5. qwerty 6. ;+ľščťžýáíé=' 7. system-config-keyboard-1.3.1-8.fc17 (or whatever else) Additional info: note that this probably is not just a single bug - you're welcome to use this as a tracker and file blocking bugs for appropriate components I've chosen to file against system-config-keyboard as I do not understand how the things work internally and this is a good starting point as it provides the choice to the user - and the choice obviously does not work, not to mention that it is insufficient: there should be both qwerty and qwertz variants to choose from p.s. the locale on that system is sk_SK.UTF-8 if that matters
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '17'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
