Description of problem:
Screen becomes black after choosing kernel for boot. (grub works)

Additional info:

Works with kernel parameters i915.modeset=1 acpi_backlight=vendor
Fedora 17 alpha works out of the box.

Since RHEL 6.3 External Beta has begun, and this bug remains
unresolved, it has been rejected as it is not proposed as
exception or blocker.

Are you still seeing this in 6.3 (or a 6.4 snapshot)?  The sandybridge drm support has seen significant changes since 6.2.

The HP Folio 13 was replaced with a HP Elitebook (Sandy bridge based on EL6.3) so I can't test this now.
