Description Need Real Name 2012-04-17 12:03:12 UTC
Description of problem:
The gdm logon screen lists a user or two (or more). To login you should click on a username with the mouse, then wait for an animation to move all the other users up or down, then the password box appears.

Suggestion:

draw the password dialog next to the username without the animation.

The reasoning behind this is that Fedora is a fast to boot operating system, and the gdm login screen is making it feel slow and unpolished.

If the login screen is too slow for you, I suggest autologin.

Comment 2 Need Real Name 2012-06-01 08:40:35 UTC
How? autologin solves a completely different problem.

This request is to make Gnome seem responsive and fast from the login screen.

Comment 3 Ray Strode [halfline] 2012-06-01 18:15:04 UTC
There's a plan upstream to queue key events. That should help quite a bit. Matthias was just saying you could bypass the whole screen altogether and make login significantly faster with autologin.
