RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2012:0804 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE subscription-manager bug fix and enhancement update 2012-06-19 19:51:31 UTC

Description John Sefler 2012-05-10 22:51:38 UTC
Description of problem:
The man page for rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm states:

This tool is supported for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 and later sys-
       tems.

^^^ Technically, this should indicate RHEL5.8+ and RHEL6.3+
However it may be better to drop this sentence since an empowered subscription-manager package that supports this tool must already be installed to read this information. If I can read this information on this system, then that means I can use rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm on this system.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
[root@ibm-ls21-03 ~]# man -P cat rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm | grep Version
Version 0.3 May 3, 2012 rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm(8)
[root@ibm-ls21-03 ~]# rpm -q subscription-manager-migration
subscription-manager-migration-0.99.17-1.el6.i686

[root@jsefler-r63-server ~]# rpm -q subscription-manager
subscription-manager-0.99.18-1.el6.x86_64
[root@jsefler-r63-server ~]# man -P cat rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm | grep Version
Version 0.3 May 3, 2012 rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm(8)

Reviewing man page rhn-migrate-classic-to-rhsm, I see that the offending statement in comment 0 has been removed. Good choice.

Although the man page was fixed, I'm not sure why the version and/or date of the man page was not bumped up. Is this a manual oversight Deon?

Comment 7 Deon Ballard 2012-05-31 14:31:35 UTC
Hey, John.

Yes, that is an oversight on my part. Should I change it now? Or just remember better in the future?
