Description of problem: sendmail rpm package update replace running postfix service Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: yum upgrade Steps to Reproduce: 1.yum upgrade 2.reboot or similar 3. where is postfix? Actual results: postfix dead after sendmail package update Expected results: postfix service running Additional info:
Did you have selected postix as your system MTA? The service settings is refreshed during upgrade according to your alternatives settings, i.e. check by: # alternatives --display mta mta - status is manual. link currently points to /usr/sbin/sendmail.postfix ... You need to have 'postfix' there as above, if not, update your settings by: # alternatives --config mta And select postfix as your system MTA.
Well, seems that sendmail was selected. But, OFF on init, not running during update. Postfix ON and running while update. No warning about this. Why mta is running if is not preferred?
