Looking at the backtrace this appears to be a bug in cogl, changing component.

First I installed the telepathy-rakia package to allow sip accounts in empathy. I added my sip account (a pbxes.org account), and it connected fine. I tried to place a call and got a segfault. Then I tried calling myself, when went through (though it said it was a video call and it wasn't), but when I answered it segfaulted in the same manner.
