Description Peter Hutterer 2012-08-29 23:02:12 EDT
Feature name: Grab overrides
Description:

Add ability to override X device grabs so that key events may be delivered to clients not holding the current device grab. Global keyboard shortcuts (e.g. Alt-Tab) do not work if there is an active device grab. Likewise, the screensaver cannot kick in. Once grab override support is available in the X layer, GTK and GNOME can use it to override existing grabs and handle events when there is a grab on.
Comment 2 Peter Hutterer 2013-09-10 19:42:09 EDT
This feature requires upstream integration and the implementation of a protocol extension. No such implementation is currently available and the required protocol spec has some pitfalls that have not yet been solved.

ETA on the upstream implementation is unknown.
