Description John Glotzer 2012-09-08 14:18:52 UTC
Description of problem:
I believe this occurred because I had turned on Google Maps WebGL 3D on on the Google Maps site AND
I had previously forced the Chrome Browser to enable 3D AND the computer had properly timed
out the screen display due to idle and when I "woke it up" Xorg crashed.

Comment 3 Mario Krišto 2012-09-09 10:25:17 UTC
- gnome-screen-saver turned screen to black as normal. And after a bit of time, xorg server chrashes. Xorg.0.log shows segmentation faults.

Cannot reproduce everytime, can't really trace what's going on and whats causing the problem.

Package: xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.12.3-1.fc17
OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle)

Comment 4 John Glotzer 2012-09-09 13:46:14 UTC
Nothing special happened here - just a couple of xterms open I think. I think a recent Xorg update has led to instability.

Package: xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.12.3-1.fc17
OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle)

Comment 5 Adam Jackson 2012-10-18 21:48:07 UTC
Please update to at least xorg-x11-server-1.12.3-2.fc17 and reopen if this is still reproduceable.

Comment 6 Bengt Lüers 2012-11-06 20:00:01 UTC
I had heavy load, high ram and swap usage, some idle time with still high ram usage, possibly hibernation and then it crashed, down to the login screen.

OS Release: Fedora release 17 (Beefy Miracle)

Comment 7 Fedora End Of Life 2013-07-04 07:23:05 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 17 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 17. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '17'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 17 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the
'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 17's end of life.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 8 Fedora End Of Life 2013-08-01 19:26:58 UTC
Fedora 17 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-07-30. Fedora 17 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
