RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Daniel Maia 2012-09-23 14:22:12 UTC
People from CentOS asked me to transmit this bug report to RHEL team as well.

Description of problem:
After failing to use my 3G modem on CentOS 6.3 due to switching problems I contacted Josua Dietze (usb_modeswitch developer). He found out that the problem resides on el6 implementation of his package.
There are two corrections to make.

1) The script "/lib/udev/usb_modeswitch" must be moved and renamed to "/usr/sbin/usb_modeswitch_dispatcher"

2) His original "usb_modeswitch.sh" script is missing. A copy should be installed in "/lib/udev/", renamed as "usb_modeswitch".

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Last version

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Connect a 3G modem with a cdrom like partition inside
2.
3.

Actual results:
Modem does not switch to proper mode

Expected results:

Additional info:
Please contact usb_modeswitch developer for further info if you wish.

This has to do nothing with usbutils and it seems to me that we don't have usb_modeswitch package in rhel6.

Comment 3 Daniel Maia 2012-09-24 16:09:51 UTC
I did not know to whom should I submit the report, so I ended up posting it to you. Could you please transmit it to the right person? Anyway, I guess it will not matter if you are not going to integrate usb_modeswitch into rhel 6.

Regards,
Daniel
