RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Fixed In Version: ovirt-node-2.5.0-6.el6
Doc Type: Bug Fix
Doc Text:
Previously, running a reinstallation of Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor failed with "No volume groups found" because the previously created Host VG was still present in the system. This was due to the filesystem layout change in the dracut module which did not take into account that the RHEL6 dracut module was still using the old filesytem layout. This patch adds backward compatability for dracut in RHEL6 by adding the required files.

Description Fabian Deutsch 2012-10-12 08:02:10 UTC
Description of problem:
The dracut module (for cleaning up HostVG etc) isn't working properly.

Comment 3 Fabian Deutsch 2012-10-12 09:05:19 UTC
This lead to problems when running a reinstall, as the previosuly created HostVG wouldn't be removed

Comment 8 Mike Burns 2012-10-15 00:50:18 UTC
patch adds bashisms to ovirt-cleanup.sh which is /bin/sh.

Comment 11 haiyang,dong 2012-10-29 05:34:25 UTC
Test version:
rhev-hypervisor6-6.4-20121015.1.el6
ovirt-node-2.5.0-7.el6_4.noarch

Steps:
1. Install RHEVH
2. Boot again same RHEVH ISO
3. Select "Reinstall" option
4. When the installer comes up and offers to "Install Hypervisor 6.4-20121015.1.el6" press F2, drop to shell,
5. run: vgs - "No volume groups found" is displayed
[root@localhost /]#vgs
No volume groups found

so this bug has been fixed.

Comment 12 haiyang,dong 2012-12-26 11:28:20 UTC
so follow steps of comment 11 to re-test on version
rhev-hypervisor6-6.4-20121212.1.el6 , bug was fixed on it.
