Description Jon Stanley 2012-11-21 16:23:03 UTC
The license field in this spec file is incorrect and dangerous.

A BSD license field implies that one can safely link proprietary applications with this library. That is *not* the case with libdb. It's a very BSD-like license, but note this sneaky clause:

* 3. Redistributions in any form must be accompanied by information on
 * how to obtain complete source code for the DB software and any
 * accompanying software that uses the DB software. The source code

Note the "any accompanying software that uses the DB software" - that makes this very non-BSD and lures the user into a false sense of security that they can use it freely, when that's not the case.

Tom, could you please check this?

Comment 2 Tom "spot" Callaway 2012-11-27 18:48:34 UTC
Confirmed. The proper License tag for libdb should be:

License: Sleepycat and BSD

I've fixed this in rawhide (5.3.21-4.fc19).
